Mission

When critical stories are underfunded, the truth gets delayed.

Truth Report Foundation exists to remove that bottleneck. We finance the journalism and community work that commercial media will not touch, the investigations that take months, the documentaries that need boots on the ground, and the grassroots projects that never make headlines but change lives.

Within the wider Truth Report ecosystem, the Foundation is the impact engine. Truth Report Media (Pty) Ltd runs the commercial platform with a 3M+ monthly audience, content production, and advertising revenue. The Foundation (NPC) channels donations into four dedicated funds. Revenue funds journalism. Donations fund impact. Both drive toward the same mission.

Formerly Grassroots Mzansi NPC, we rebranded in March 2026 to align with the Truth Report media ecosystem.

Formerly Grassroots Mzansi NPC

Independent structure. Accountable funding. Public-interest outcomes.

We built this Foundation for donors who ask hard questions. Every rand is tracked, every project is reported on, and every donor receives a Section 18A certificate.

Built for long-cycle impact

Four funds

Four funds. Zero ambiguity.

Every donation is routed to a specific fund. You choose where your money goes. We show you what it did.

Fund 01

Documentary Fund

High-impact investigative documentaries and video series. From fieldwork and production to post and distribution. The stories that need cameras on the ground, boots in the dust, and editors who will not flinch. Covers research, travel, crew, equipment, post-production, and distribution.

Exposing the R12M Water Tanker Contracts That Never Delivered

Rural communities in the Eastern Cape waited months for water tankers that municipal records showed had been dispatched. Our investigation traced R12 million in contracts to companies with no vehicles, no drivers, and no delivery records. The story triggered a provincial inquiry and directly restored water access to three wards.

Transparency

Built on trust. Not just promises.

Donor confidence is not earned with slogans. It is earned with structure, separation, and consistent reporting.

South Africa has seen too many NPOs that cannot account for their funds. We built this Foundation with the assumption that every donor will ask hard questions, and we want the answers ready before they do.

Protected Editorial Workflow

Donors fund the work. They do not direct the journalism. Our editorial and funding streams are structurally separated. The Foundation board approves fund allocations, while story selection, editorial angle, and publication decisions sit with the Truth Report Media editorial team.

Fund-by-Fund Clarity

Every rand donated is allocated to one of four funds. Each fund publishes its own project pipeline, spend summary, and impact outcomes. No pooling. No vague general fund catch-all. When you give to the Documentary Fund, you see which production it supported.

Trust-Building Reporting

Quarterly impact reports go to every donor. Annual financial statements are independently reviewed. Section 18A tax certificates are issued within 30 days of donation. Board meeting minutes are available on request. We do not ask you to trust us. We give you the receipts.
